Skype is a free web-based communication tool that allows individuals to connect in real-time. Voice chat, text chat, and video chat are all available. To set it up, visit, create an account (if you do not have one already), and install the application on your computer (Mac and Windows compatible).

Although Skype can be an effective solution for one-on-one virtual meetings, we recommend Zoom instead, since it does not require students to get Skype accounts.
