Keeping Lab and Lecture Schedules Together

10 Feb 2010

I frequently teach through MS PowerPoint lectures, so I endeavored to find a way to offer my students a chance to view my lectures through Blackboard while the university was closed.

To accomplish this, I turned to an application called AuthorPoint which converts PowerPoint slides with narrations into flash presentations.  The company even hosts the presentations free of cost.  I was then able to embed my lecture within a section of my course (CHEM118-C1) in the Visual Aids content section under experiment 3 – Diels Alder.

Several students have already confirmed their ability to view the lecture, keeping us on track to pick up our laboratory experiments next week without further disruption!

I currently am using the free version of the AuthorPoint software, but after my experience with it this week I will be requesting that my department purchase the $99 full-feature educational version for me as soon as possible!
